IT'S TIME! 

First of all... thank you for being here. Whether you've travelled across the country, across the ocean or just down the road, it means the world to us that you're spending this day with us. We've put together this page with everything we think you'll need to know so you can spend less time wondering where to park or where the bar moved, and more time celebrating with us. Now let's get married. 🤍

Getting to the Venue & Parking

As this is a private residence, there is no designated parking lot. The good news is that there is plenty of parking available, as shown on the map below. Please do not park:In front of the house on Langtry RoadOn the lower half of Blythe RoadWe'd like to keep these areas clear for photos, guest access, and vendor parking. You may park:Anywhere along Langtry RoadOn the upper half of Blythe Road, as indicated on the mapAt the end of Blythe Road where it transitions into a gravel road/grass patch. Please note that the gravel/grass patch parking area is quite uneven and bumpy. We recommend this area for trucks and SUVs rather than low-clearance vehicles like cars. Overnight parking is absolutely fine! We've arranged a designated Driver, details furthur below. CampingFor guests who are camping, please head to:2952 Doupe Road There will be signs directing you where to park and set up camp.A friendly reminder that this is a simple field campsite with no hookups, power, water, or facilities, so please come prepared.As shown on the map, you can walk across Doupe Road and follow the marked pathway to the wedding site. There will be signage along the route, and the path will be clearly marked.

Lay of the Land 

We've created yet another little map ( surprise surprise) to show everyone where all important things will be! Although the wedding address is 4975 Langtry road, we ask that you please access the property via the gate entrance on Blythe road, as indicated by the map. The Ceremony will be held at the bottom area of the property, right near the field, along with the reception. Cocktail hour and lawn games will be happening right at the back of the house, as indicated by the labels on the map. WashroomsWe'll have a luxury bathroom trailer located in front of the shop, near the house and cocktail hour area. Yes, they're flushing toilets. Yes, there's running water. And yes, there's a little basket in each for the little things you may need through the night. SmokingA designated smoking area will be located just outside the main gate, complete with a bucket of water and sand for cigarette disposal.Please do not smoke anywhere else on the property. This is our family home, and it's been cared for with a lot of love over the years. We'd really appreciate your help keeping it beautiful. The BARNow for the important part...We'll have a few different drink stations throughout the day to keep everyone happily hydrated.Before the ceremonyHelp yourself to beer, spritzers, bubbly, water, and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks while everyone arrives.During cocktail hourThe main bar will be located beside the house, marked by the pink martini glass on the map.During dinner &amp; dancingOnce it's time to party, the bar will move down to the reception area so you won't have to wander too far in search of your next drink.

Getting Home Safe 

Listen, we love you, we want to celebrate with you, and we also want you to get home safe. Please enjoy yourself, drink responsibly, and please do not drink and drive. If you've driven to the wedding and decide you'd rather not drive home, we've got you covered! We've hired a designated driver for the evening. Since Uber doesn't exist in Duncan and taxis can be a bit of a gamble, Hannah will be available from 8:00 pm to midnight to drive you home, back to your hotel, or to your Airbnb.Her time has already been covered, so there's no cost to you. ❤️ We'll also have Hannah's contact information posted at the bar throughout the evening.There's absolutely no problem leaving your vehicle overnight. Housekeeping & Little Things 

The drinks are on us all night, but the hangovers are on you.If you'd like, there will be a tip jar for our wonderful bartenders and a honeymoon fund if you're feeling extra generous. Absolutely no expectations—your presence is the gift, but we certainly won't stop you. 🤍 Bringing little ones?We won't have high chairs or booster seats available, so if your little one needs one, we recommend bringing a travel seat along. A quick favour...Our wedding is taking place at our family home, and this property has been loved and cared for for many years. We simply ask that you treat it with the same care and respect you would your own home. Most importantly...Put your phone away during the ceremony, grab another drink, eat too much cake, dance like nobody's watching, and make some wonderful memories with us. We truly can't wait to celebrate with all of you.

What to Wear

Imagine sitting in a garden at dusk — the air crisp, the foliage deep and rich in color. Think of the velvety tones of plums and figs, the scent of trees, fresh-cut wood, crushed grass, and fragrant herbs. Picture wine-stained lips, crisp green grapes and moss-covered forest floors. We’re trying to create a space that feels alive — textured, natural, romantic — and above all, filled with love.

We’re calling it semi-formal, but here’s what we really mean: Come dressed in something you feel amazing in — something that’s easy to move in, dance in, and can carry you from a warm summer afternoon to cool twinkling evening. Big bold colour is welcome! That said, if you’re a fan of a dramatic outfit change, go for it! July = warm weather. Flowy fabrics are your friend - no need to wear skintight and black - unless you want to! Outdoor venue = soft ground. Maybe skip the pointy heels — you'll be on lots of grass, gravel paths, and charming-but-uneven - ground. Men, shorts are welcome! Just please (please!) no cargo shorts. We want you to feel cool and look great. Colors to note: the ladies who are up at the alter with Kaileyne will be in green, and the guys in classic suits with pops of greens and deep maroon - in case you're curious and don't want to matchy match the wedding party We’ll have shaded spaces, but dress for the weather if you tend to run warm. We've laid out the basics below, and linked a mood board for those of you who are really keen to dress up to theme, but don't stress about matching a colour or vibe exactly, we just want you there!

To personalize our guestbook, we’re gathering cherished recipes from loved ones to create a keepsake cookbook. So please share your family favourite, crowd pleaser or world famous recipe, and we'll turn it into a cookbook. Then, come day of, find your recipe, and add a note or sign your name. This way we'll be able to think of you and cook through our loved ones favourite foods through our marriage.

Send in your recipe - or more than 1 if you have enough- by April 15th, so we can turn it into a cookbook for our guests to sign the day of! Travel to Vancouver Island

There are 2 main ways to get to Vancouver Island - via plane or via ferry. The Wedding Venue - The Stevenson Home - is in Duncan, BC, which is approximately 1 hour North of Victoria, or about 45 minutes South of Nanaimo. We've done our best to capture all the details about how to best arrive there below. BC Ferries The best (only) option if you're driving. We highly recommend booking your ferry as far in advance as you can (like months in advance). Although sometimes driving and "catching the next one" can work, during the summer months you could be waiting for hours and hours, baking in the sun. Although totally up to you, we recommend the Tsawwassen to Duke Point Ferry route. It's easier driving (no Malahat) on the island side, and slightly shorter driving time!<a href="https://www.bcferries.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.bcferries.com/</a> Flying If you prefer to fly, there are a couple options available! You can fly into either Nanaimo or Victoria Airport. Victoria tends to have more options for flights, Nanaimo is a bit smaller - but again, less driving on the other end. Best Western Cowichan Valley Inn has a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, a garden and restaurant in Duncan. This 3-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, an ATM and free WiFi. Guests can have a drink at the bar. All guest rooms come with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a fridge, a coffee machine, a shower, free toiletries and a closet. Featuring a private bathroom with a bath and a hairdryer, some rooms at the hotel also feature a city view. A business center and vending machines with snacks and drinks are available on site at Best Western Cowichan Valley Inn. Maple Bay is 6.3 miles from the accommodation, while Mill Bay Ferry Terminal is 16 miles from the property.

This all-suite hotel overlooks Cowichan Bay and suites with a kitchenette. It is 8.1 mi from the British Columbia Forest Discovery Center. Cable TV and free Wi-Fi are included in each suite at Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay. The kitchenette has a stovetop, full-size refrigerator, and a dishwasher. A sofa bed is provided. An indoor pool, sauna, and gym are part of Cowichan Bay Oceanfront Suites. The Cowichan Valley Museum is 5.9 mi from the property. The Cowichan Bay Maritime Center is a 5-minute walk away.

Best Western PLUS Chemainus Inn is located in Chemainus, within 10 miles of Maple Bay and 25 miles of Mill Bay Ferry Terminal. With a fitness center, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The hotel has an indoor pool, hot tub and a 24-hour front desk. At the hotel, rooms come with a desk. Some rooms include a kitchenette with a fridge, a dishwasher and a microwave. The rooms have a safety deposit box. Guests at Best Western PLUS Chemainus Inn can enjoy an American breakfast. Guests at the accommodation will be able to enjoy activities in and around Chemainus, like skiing and cycling. A business center and vending machines with snacks and drinks are available on site at Best Western PLUS Chemainus Inn. Wildplay Element Park is 18 miles from the hotel, while Nanaimo Museum is 22 miles from the property.

Camping

For those driving down and wanting to stay in your own space you're welcome to set up tent-or trailer- in a property that's walking distance to the wedding venue! Please note that this is truly just a field - no hookups or power, so please come prepared with what you need to be comfortable. We will have an option to top up your water before you park. This option is about a 5-10 minute walk to the wedding venue through a logging road, so pack your walking shoes &amp; flashlight to get to and from without additional hassle. If you would like to Camp, we ask that if possible, you come and set up the night before, and please let us know via your RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

Things to Do 

The Cowichan Valley has a lot to offer - especially in the summer months! Whether you want to extend your visit to the Valley, hike a mountain for a stunning view, explore the local art and culture, treat yourself to a relaxing pampering session, or enjoy the fruit (aka Wine) of the valley, there is so much to see and do!

Wineries Take a tour of some of our local vineyards! Designated as it's own certified wine growing region- like the Okanagan! The Cowichan Valley has some gorgeous wineries and even better wine! Some varieties to look out for are Bacchus, Ortega, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Downtown Duncan Saturdays Downtown Duncan hosts a beautiful Farmer's Market. The whole month of July there is a showcase of local talent, and culture in a celebration called 39 Days of July, as well as Duncan Days. The couple of blocks of downtown also offers some pretty good shopping -whether it's shoes and clothes, funky vintage finds, local artisans, amazing food or even tattoo shops, there's a little something for everyone.
